This week, we were notified by Bryanne Lang, the Community Relations Director for Mosaic of Central Iowa, that Holy Trinity has been named Mosaic’s 2022 Church Partner of the Year. (You may remember Bryanne – she was on our learning staff a few years back). We are honored and humbled to receive such recognition from an organization that does so much to share God’s love with our neighbors who face intellectual and physical difficulties. Mosaic’s mission: we are called to love and serve our neighbor, which is a mirror of our own mission to Share God’s Love. Mosaic is a vital ministry that grows out of humble Lutheran roots on the prairie. It was formed by the consolidation of two Nebraska-born Lutheran ministries dedicated to the needs of people with disabilities. Bethphage began in 1913 in Axtell, Nebraska, and Martin Luther Homes began in 1925 in Sterling, Nebraska.
Mosaic serves more than 5,200 people in 13 states and 750 communities. Services are tailored to meet individual needs and goals, allowing people to be as independent as possible. Services are designed for people with disabilities, mental and behavioral health needs and autism, as well as aging adults. Our congregation has partnered with Mosaic by giving financial support, inviting clients to worship with us, gathering Christmas presents for residents, and delivering pies every year on Thanksgiving. We look forward to doing more in the future as we work together to Share God’s Love with those who need help and who bless us with their resilience and love.
