Confirmation Ministry
Middle School aged young people (6th, 7th, 8th grade) participate in our Confirmation Ministry. In the waters of Baptism, parents take the responsibility of passing on the faith to the children they bring to the font. Confirmation ministry is an intentional process that invites parents to complete these promises as young people take responsibility for their own faith. It is a ministry that moves each participant from childhood to adulthood.
The three-year program includes: 1) gaining confidence in and understanding of scripture; 2) deepening understanding of what it means to be a Christian through study of Luther’s Small Catechism; 3) growing as disciples in preparation for living a life of faith. This all culminates in the rite of Affirmation of Baptism, in which the young disciples claim their own place in the Body of Christ, the Church.
