This coming weekend, our congregation will begin a very important journey of celebration, prayer, and commitment. In 2025, our congregation will mark its 75th anniversary as a congregation and so, we will celebrate God’s blessings and abundant love as it has been revealed in our life together. We will gather ourselves in prayer because nothing is possible without God’s blessing and purpose. We will begin a time of commitment as we offer our time and our financial offerings to raise the funds necessary to make sure we can make a good start on the next 75 years of ministry in this place The campaign theme is “Called to Serve. Called to Preserve.” It is an acknowledgment that we, as followers of the resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ, are always called to serve others. It is an acknowledgement that to answer that call, we need to preserve the building and grounds that so often, make it possible to gather, worship, serve, love, and learn.
We have set a Minimum Goal of $1.5 million for this campaign effort, which will enable us to update our HVAC system, replace our south roof, make various planned updates to our multi-purpose room, and tithe – or give 10% of what we raise – to our chosen mission partners. We have set a Challenge Goal of $1.8 million (or $300K beyond our minimum) which will enable us to make the various improvements we plan to our building’s first floor, add our planned memorial garden, and give an additional tithe to our mission partners. Finally, reaching our Ultimate Goal of $2 million (or $500K beyond our minimum) will enable us to take advantage of government credits while they’re still available, install a new solar panel-based electrical system, and further support our designated mission partners through a tithe of the additional sums we raise. There is an old joke about a church member who says to the preacher after a sermon on a capital campaign, “I’m glad you said you didn’t know where we would get what we need, preacher. We thought you were going to ask us to come up with the money.” Well, I am – no, we are – asking everyone to make a substantial contribution to make these goals a reality. We are all bound together in mission by the love of God. In fact, God has already given us all we need so that we can do what we are called to do. Please join us this Sunday as we ask for volunteers (not financial commitments) to serve this campaign. Then, join us on Sunday the 14th of April after the 10:00 AM worship service for a wonderful program and meal to kick off our effort. God has blessed us and will work through us to Share God’s Love. In Christ, Tim Olson – Lead Pastor
