Open Arms Mission Partners
How will we allocate our tithe in the Open Arms Capital Appeal?
The ELCA World Hunger Appeal – this will feed the hungry as close as Ankeny (we are receiving a $1,000 grant for our food pantry) and all around the world. This is one of the highest rated hunger agencies in the world.
MOSAIC – We are developing a great relationship with this agency who serve the intellectually and developmentally disabled – they have a home right here in Ankeny that is often maintained by one of our Men’s Groups; they come and worship with us, they serve folks all over the Midwest and right here in Central Iowa.
The ELCA Fund for Leaders – This is a national merit based scholarship program for seminarians (folks becoming leaders and pastors) that seeks to reduce debt and raise up pastors for our future. Our gifts will be designated to support those recipients who are candidates right here in the Southeastern Iowa Synod
New Congregation in Anamosa Prison – Our synod is starting a worshipping community in the prison at Anamosa. This is happening in prisons all around the country and provides effective and meaningful ministry to inmates and families. What is more Open Arms than this?
