Kids hope Usa
One mentor, one child, one hour during the school day, once a week, same time every week, committed to one school year.
THE NEED
Children in every community who need to be reached
THE OPPORTUNITY
To provide a solution of sending willing adults, trained, into schools with a purpose of connecting and building caring relationships with students across the U.S.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
An elementary student who is in need of additional support is partnered with a caring, reliable, consistent adult who shows up at the school for one hour each week – a mentor who is there just for them. This one-to-one attention provides another source of support and encouragement for a child to thrive.
MENTORING CHANGES LIVES
Why Mentor?
Mentoring, at its core, guarantees children that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with
day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on the lives of children (mentoring.org).
Kids Hope USA’s model provides one-on-one mentoring which gives children the opportunity to gain support, motivation, and the confidence necessary to learn and achieve, laying a foundation that positions them for a more successful future.
Mentors receive one-on-one assistance from beginning of training, starting to mentor, and while continuing to build this transformative relationship.
Mentor Qualifications
