One of our goals for 2025 is to strengthen our relationship with our mission partners – the organizations we work with to enflesh our mission, which is to Share God’s Love. For a congregation to be a congregation it must reach beyond its own needs and interests to love our neighbors locally and globally. Sometimes congregations develop their own programs and projects to make these connections. At Holy Trinity, we have chosen to make more lasting and sustainable efforts by partnering with institutions and organizations that are already opening doors and addressing needs in the world. Over the next year, we will be featuring our mission partners here in Grace Notes so that we can raise awareness, pray and grow in how we Share God’s Love through these partnerships. This week, we want to lift up the work we share with Mosaic.
Our partnership with Mosaic takes many forms. Sometimes it is financial support as we give, most recently, part of the tithe from our Capital Campaign to support their mission. Sometimes it is by welcoming Mosaic clients to do a project with the confirmation class in the fellowship hall or be part of our worship life. Other times, we make sure that clients can celebrate Thanksgiving by dropping off pies or Christmas as we offer gifts. In 2022, Holy Trinity was recognized as Mosaic’s Outstanding Congregation. Pastor Tim and Cyndi serve on the Mosaic National Leadership Council working to build Mosaic’s future. “Mosaic was formed July 1, 2003, by the consolidation of two Nebraska-born Lutheran ministries dedicated to the needs of people with disabilities. Bethphage began in 1913 in Axtell, Nebraska, and Martin Luther Home began in 1925 in Sterling, Nebraska. Mosaic has “more than 100 years of experience loving and serving our neighbor. Since our founding, ‘neighbor’ has often included people who had nowhere else to turn, especially people with disabilities.” https://www.mosaicinfo.org/who-we-are/history/ “Mosaic provides a wide range of services in the home and community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.” They do this in 13 states for about 5,000 people through 750 different programs. https://www.mosaicinfo.org Mosaic of Central Iowa is headquartered in Urbandale and provides services in group settings, through Behavioral and Autism Services, and the Mosaic at Home program, which places clients in home settings to receive support, love, care, and support.
