![]() Our mission is to Share God’s Love. It is, on the one hand, simple. The final commandment Jesus gave to his followers was to love one another as he loved us. On the other hand, loving each other and loving all God’s children is an enormous and complicated task. That is why we carry out our mission in partnership with organizations and agencies who share our values and our commitment to love. Hope Ministries in Des Moines has been around since 1915. Their mission statement could easily be our own: To rescue those who are homeless, hungry, abused or addicted, providing opportunities for hope, recovery and restoration through the love of Jesus Christ. Our partnership with Hope Ministries gives us an avenue through which we can share God’s love with the homeless, abused, and addicted.
Our partnership sometimes looks like dinner rolls. For the last two years we have provided 80-100 dozen dinner rolls for the Easter meal Hope provides to around 2.500 homeless persons. Our partnership sometimes looks like underwear and socks. We have, through our God’s Work. Our Hands. program provided hundreds of these clothing essentials for homeless men at Hope Ministries’ shelter. Sometime our partnership looks like a warm bed and a safe space. Through our financial support, including part of our tithe on the Capital Campaign, Holy Trinity has sponsored four beds at the Bethel Mission and four rooms at the Hope Ministries Center for Women and Children. Two are for single women. Two for families. There are many more opportunities to grow in this partnership. Volunteer opportunities are available to serve meals at the shelter, do some work to maintain the Hope Ministry sites, and much more. If you would like to be part of sharing God’s love by helping the homeless, addicted, and abused, contact the church office. We are hoping to expand our team of volunteers working with Hope Ministries in the months ahead. If you’d like to learn more about Hope Ministries, check out their webpage: https://www.hopeiowa.org.
